Benjamin Chiu
Co-President, MBA Finance Association
Ben Chiu is a Maryland native, and previous graduate of the Smith School of Business
(B.S. in Finance). Before coming back to Smith, he spent 7.5 years at JPMorgan Chase,
most recently as an Associate in the Asset Management line of business. Ben has been a
key member of merger integration teams in both the Investment Bank and Asset Management
divisions during two large scale acquisitions (JPMorgan and Chase, and JPMorgan and Bank One). Ben is one of two Portfolio Managers for the Mayer Fund and
spent his summer in Oregon with Intel Finance.

Ed Shumway
Co-President, MBA Finance Association
Ed Shumway is originally from SLC, Utah. During his undergraduate work Ed spent two years
volunteering with communities in Ukraine. Upon his return to the U.S. Ed received a B.S. in
Economics from Brigham Young University. Before entering the Smith School he worked for two
years with small businesses in NYC and MD. At Smith, Ed is the Materials and Industrials
Analyst for the Mayer Fund, and
interned over the summer with M&T Bank.

Jaya Kothari

Jaya is a first year MBA
student at the Robert H.
Smith School of Business
concentrating in
Finance. Prior to
attending Smith, Jaya
spent three years in
product management in
Torrent Pharmaceuticals,
a leading health-care
company in India. At
Torrent, she was
responsible for
budgeting, forecasting,
inventory planning,
managing brands and
customer relationship
management. This summer,
she is interned with
JPMorgan Chase in their Finance Associate Leadership Program.

Jake Chen

Jake
was born and raised in
Beijing, China.
After graduating with
dual degrees in Computer
Science and Computer
Engineering from the
University of Utah, Jake
joined Micron
Technology, the leading
provider for memory and
semiconductor solutions
in the U.S., as a Test
Engineer and then a
product manager for 4
years. Prior to
Smith, Jake successfully
transitioned into the
Financial Services
sector and worked as a
Financial Advisor at
Ameriprise Financial.
This past summer, he
interned with Morgan
Stanley's Fixed Income
Division in Hong Kong.
Jake is the Information
Technology Analyst for
the Mayer Fund at Smith.

Karan Kaul

Jesse Reinhold
Vice-President, MBA Finance Association
Jesse Reinhold is a first-year MBA student at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Prior to attending
Smith, Jesse worked in Missouri at Chamberlin Edmonds, a revenue recovery firm in the healthcare industry.
Jesse completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri graduating with a degree in International
Business. In addition to her commitment to the MBA Finance Association, Jesse is a graduate assistant in the
Office of Student Financial Aid. Upon graduating from the MBA program in May 2009, Jesse plans to work in
corporate finance.
