President
Laura was born in Colombia. She earned her B.S.in Business Administration from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota. Her previous experience was focused on the airline and tourism industries. Laura worked for two years, previous to her arrival to the US in Aviatur – the main Colombian tourism company – promoting Colombia abroad as a tourist destination. As a student at Smith, Laura has been involved with different organizations and activities such as the Hispanic MBA Association and the Admissions and Recruiting office for the MBA-MS programs. Laura enjoys playing golf, travelling and learning different languages. She is an MBA Candidate for the class of 2011 concentrating in Marketing and International Business.
Executive Vice President Juan Pablo was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. Prior to his arrival to Smith, he worked for Fitch Ratings Colombia, a risk rating agency where he followed credit ratings of companies in various industries, including banking, energy and construction. He is an MBA candidate for the class of 2011 with a concentration in Finance. Juan Pablo plays the piano, enjoys traveling, and has a passion for learning about different cultures and languages.

Vice President of Finance Jose Carlos was born in Lima - Peru. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Universidad del Pacifico in Lima. He is a Master's Candidate for International Cooperation and Project Management by Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset. His previous experience was focused on the public sector. Jose Carlos worked for six years, five of them mainly in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism in Peru as part of the Peruvian team in charge of the negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement with the US, Canada, Mexico, EFTA Countries among others economic groups. He has also worked as a project manager in the Peruvian government closely in touch with multilateral institutions. As a student at Smith, Jose Carlos has been involved with different organizations and activities such as the Hispanic MBA Association, Energy Club, Health Care Club and Entrepreneurship Club. After finishing Smith's Program he will return to Peru to be in charge of his family business. Outside of school Jose Carlos enjoys swimming, dancing and watching soccer games with a cold beer. |

Vice President of Marketing
Lina was born in Medellin, Colombia. She earned a B.A. in Economics from EAFIT University of Medellin and later a Masters in Finance at the same university. She started working at Valores Bancolombia S.A., the largest brokerage firm in Colombia, as a financial markets research analyst and then she worked for 3 years as a financial advisor at the third party asset management department in the same company. In 2009 Lina received the Fulbright award for academic excellence allowing her to pursue her MBA studies in the US. Lina is interested in Marketing and Strategy and is passionate about topics on Corporate Social Responsibility. At the Smith School of Business she has participated actively with the Center for Social Value Creation as a social venture consultant. She is currently the VP of external relations of the NetImpact club and the VP of marketing at the HMBAA. After completing her MBA, Lina will return to Colombia to work for Bancolombia S.A, her sponsor company.

Vice President of External Relations Reneida Leon was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After completing a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Florida, she started a career in Interactive Marketing, working as online community builder and marketing coordinator for enterprise social networking company Neighborhood America, now INgage Networks. Later Reneida moved to Baltimore to work as account executive for Internet Strategy Group, an interactive marketing agency, managing various online and mobile campaigns for clients in North America. Today, as a 2011 MBA candidate at the University of Maryland, she seeks to build on these experiences to continue a career in entrepreneurship or marketing strategy within the specialty of technology and digital media. She is currently President of the Smith MBA Entrepreneurship Club and Vice President of External Relations of the Smith HMBAA. Outside of school Reneida enjoys exercising outdoors, attending Baltimore Orioles games with her husband, and pretty much anything art-related.
