Financial Times and Wall Street Journal Rank Smith's Executive MBA Program
among the World’s Best
In just-released reports, the executive MBA program at the Smith School ranks
No. 22 in the world, according to the Wall Street Journal. Smith’s
program ranked No. 15 for how well it imparts management skills to students and
No. 16 according to alumni rating. Financial Times ranks Smith's EMBA
program No. 15 in the U.S. The influential rankings place the Smith School's
EMBA No. 1 in the world for corporate strategy and No. 9 globally for
entrepreneurship and for faculty research, an area of strength for which the
school is consistently recognized as a leader.
First-ever Region-specific Smith Alumni Club Launches in New York
More than 200 alumni gathered at the Ernst & Young National Headquarters on Sept.
29, 2010, to celebrate the launch of the Smith Alumni Club of New York, or
SmithNY. The region-specific alumni club is the first of its kind for the Smith
School, and aims to unite the more than 5,000 alumni living in the Greater New York
region.

Competition: Cupid’s Cup
Calling all University of Maryland students and recent alumni who own and operate
businesses! You are invited to apply to participate in the
Sixth Annual UM Business
Competition: Cupid's Cup, judged and sponsored by successful Terp entrepreneur Kevin
Plank ’96, founder and CEO of Under Armour. All recent alumni (graduated in 2001
or later) with operating companies that have generated at least $5,000 in revenues
are eligible to apply. Companies must be no more than 5 years old. Applications

Speaker Series. The Smith School’s world-class faculty members
discuss their latest research on topics of broad interest
and importance.
Each presentation is followed by an opportunity to network
with alumni and regional business leaders at one of Smith’s
convenient local campuses in Washington, D.C., or Baltimore,
MD.
Breakfast begins at 8 a.m.; presentations begin at 8:30
a.m. and are followed by a Q&A period concluding at 10 a.m.
Cost is $25 for the general public, $15 for Smith School
alumni and $10 for current students unless otherwise noted
(includes continental breakfast). Attend two sessions and
receive $5 off the total price; attend three sessions and
