Marketing in Technology-Driven Industries
Friday, March 26, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building
College Park, Md. 20740
Choosing the right group of customers to approach first
is only one of the many challenges differentiating technology
product marketing from everything else. In this unique and
valuable seminar, you'll learn a step-by-step approach focusing
on a complete working solution that identifies early adopters
and wins over skeptical late comers. You'll explore the
psychological aspects behind tech purchases, and how to
uncover segments of customers who need your innovation most--a
very important key to success. You'll also gain a deeper
understanding of why branding matters in the high tech arena.
This one-day seminar is offered jointly by the University
of Maryland’s Smith School of Business and the A. James
Clark School of Engineering. The session is a part of the
"The Certificate in Innovation Management Program" offered
jointly by both schools. Lunch and refreshments are served.

Build Bench Strength by Developing Your Employees
Friday, May 7
On-the-job experience can be a powerfully transformative
tool for professional growth—in fact, research indicates
it may be the primary vehicle for learning critical leadership
skills. Toward that end, many companies groom their high-potential
managers through "stretch" assignments and other developmental
experiences. Joyce E. A. Russell, Ralph J. Tyser
Distinguished Teaching Fellow, discusses the latest research, uncovering
who might benefit most from these experiences and how best
to use them in your own organization to build your bench
strength and keep high potential employees on the road to
success.

New Online Community
The Smith School is launching SmithConnector, a new Web-based,
online community exclusive to the Smith Community. SmithConnector
provides social and professional networking tools to assist
in strengthening your online connections. You will be able
to access a Web-based directory of Smith alumni from around
the world, submit an “alumni note” to share your success,
create alumni groups based on industry and/or affinity and
register for events in your region. SmithConnector will
also allow you to search career opportunities, post jobs,
and read what other alumni are doing in an “Alumni Spotlight.”
One of the best features is for you to automatically connect
to Facebook. The new site will launch later this spring.
Look for more information on how to get connected.
