$21-Million North Wing Nears Completion |
| Fresh paint is going up and new carpet is
going down as the $21-million, 38,000-square-foot
wing of Van Munching Hall nears completion.
The crew is shooting for a finish date in early

Smith Students Tour Chinese Factories |
| In the wake of several U.S. recalls involving
products made in China, six Smith School students
traveled to China in early September to get
an up-close look at manufacturing in that country.
The students toured four factories including
those for Siemens, Mary Kay cosmetics, and Ting
Hsin International, China’s largest manufacturer
of instant noodles.

M&A Case Competition

Van Munching Hall
Teams from top U.S. business schools, including
Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, University
of Virginia, Yale, and Smith, will compete for
glory and $8,500 in cash prizes in this competition
that simulates an actual mergers and acquisition
pitch meeting to Wall Street executives. The
free event includes a reception beginning at
4:30 p.m. that gives attendees an opportunity
to network with students, Smith faculty and
distinguished guests. Alumni are invited to
come network, recruit, and cheer on the Smith
team.
