Students Showcase Nonprofit Consulting Projects

CTW Symposium Fall 2014

Ten ChangeTheWorld.org student teams showcased their work this semester at the ChangeTheWorld.org Fall 2014 Symposium. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about each project and gave feedback to the presenters. Attendees included fellow and prospective student consultants, ChangeTheWorld mentors and clients and Smith School staff.

After a brief introduction by Pammi Bhullar, program manager at the Center for Social Value Creation, Maliha Cheema, Director of Resource Mobilization at Eco Energy Finance, gave a brief presentation on ChangeTheworld.org's impact on her organization. Eco Energy Finance is a nonprofit providing affordable solar solutions in rural Pakistan. Last Spring a ChangeTheWorld.org team of MBA students worked with Eco Energy Finance to enhance their business model and identify funding streams. With the help of the student team recommendations, Eco Energy Finance has had 7 times more sales in the last 10 months than it had in the 2 years prior to that.

After the presentation by Ms. Cheema, student teams presented their work in a showcase format. Attendees were encouraged to give feedback to presenters who could then use it to developed their final client presentations. The Consulting projects ranged from program development to performance evaluation to revenue generation strategies. Students demostrated the knowledge they'd gained in their project area and a better understanding of the dynamics of consulting in the nonprofit space.

The Center for Social Value Creation is excited to see the impact these student teams will have on their nonprofit partners in the coming months, especially given past successes such as Eco Energy Finance.
