Student Entrepreneurs Fill Van
Munching Hall
During the Terp Marketplace
Student entrepreneurs were met with a constant crowd of customers during the
Terp Marketplace on Sept. 21, 2010, in Van Munching Hall. The event was hosted
by the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship as part of the center’s 25th
anniversary celebration.
Terp Marketplace highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of the Robert H.
Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, by
bringing student entrepreneurs to the Pownall Grand Atrium in Van Munching Hall
to sell their wares. It is an event that program manager, Alla Corey, is proud
to host, along with the help of the Maryland Undergraduate Society for
Entrepreneurs (MUSE).
“Terp Marketplace is a low-cost opportunity for student entrepreneurs to test
and validate a market for their products. It also offers a chance for students,
faculty and staff at the university to meet the entrepreneurs and to see, touch
and buy their products,” Corey said. “The Marketplace creates a great sense of
community and showcases the university's entrepreneurial spirit.”
Vendors at this year’s Terp Marketplace included Inkup, Blue Chesapeake,
Blumpari, Blind Pig Cocktails, Need The Geek, and others. In all, about 20
entrepreneurs lined the hall of the Grand Atrium to showcase their products to
the community.
The Terp Marketplace was followed by a Pitch Dingman Competition and keynote
address by Michael Dingman, the center’s benefactor.
