
Smith Team Advances to Finals in
National Association of Women MBAs
Conference Case Competition
The Smith School team made it to the
final round of the First Annual National
Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) Case
Competition. Team "The Smiths,"
consisting of second-year MBA students
Liz Slobasky, Anne Zeeman and Lyubov
Luzhanova and first-years Kristi Zobel
and Varongnard Trongkongsin, will be
presenting their solution to the case
during the final round of competition;
which will be held in Van Munching Hall
on Nov. 3, 3:30-6:30 p.m., as part of
the National Association of Women MBAs
Conference, which is being hosted by the
Robert H. Smith School of Business, Nov.
2-3, 2007.
The case competition, organized by
Thunderbird School of Global Management,
is sponsored by Hilti, world leader in
developing, manufacturing and marketing
top-quality products for professionals
in the construction industry and in
building maintenance. The competition
started with 35 teams and was narrowed
to 12 teams after the first round of
judging, and only six teams made it to
the finals. The other teams competing in
the final round include two teams from
Georgia Tech, and teams from Georgetown,
Rice University and University of Texas,
Dallas. Each team had two weeks to come
up with their solution to the case which
was written by Hilti and was based on
their HR practices.
The team will be competing for a
first prize of $5,000, second prize of
$3,000 and third prize of $2,000. If you
see these ladies in the hall
congratulate them on their hard work, or
better yet, come to the finals and cheer
them on at this year's National Women
MBAs Conference, which is packed with
programming that will help inspire women
to Take the Lead through
globalization, entrepreneurship and
technology. The conference features a
career fair, panels, workshops, and
networking events that are all designed
to advance women in their professional
lives.
