The
Smith Schools Anil Gupta, Ralph J. Tyser
Professor of Global Strategy and
Entrepreneurship, is featured
prominently in a
multichannel media report on how
firms can develop successful business
strategies for China and India. A
full-page newspaper article, coauthored
by Gupta and Smith School MBA alumnus
Haiyan Wang, was published April 28 in
the Wall Street Journal as part
of its Business Insight report, which
also includes video and audio interviews
as well as an online discussion.
Guptas article, entitled How to Get
China and India Right, explains why
firms should pursue integrated
strategies for China and India rather
than trying to decide whether to go
after opportunities in one or the other.
China is much stronger than India in
mass manufacturing and logistics; in
contrast, India is much stronger than
China in software and IT services,
writes Gupta to
illustrate how firms can leverage the
strengths of both countries in a
synergistic manner. The article goes on
to provide advice on developing market
segmentation strategies, addressing
intellectual property issues and
establishing partnerships in China and
India.
In addition to the newspaper article,
the Business Insight report includes a
five-minute videotaped interview and a
ten-minute audio podcast with Gupta. The
article and other content can be
accessed on the Wall Street Journal
Web site at
www.wsj.com/businessinsight.
Visitors can submit comments and
questions in the online discussion
section, where Gupta and Wang will then
post replies.
