Professor Lawrence Gordon Testifies to
Homeland Security Congressional Committee

Dr. Lawrence A. Gordon, Ernst & Young Alumni Professor of Managerial Accounting and Information Assurance, gave testimony concerning his research (with Dr. Martin Loeb, professor of accounting and information assurance and Deloitte & Touche Faculty Fellow) on cybersecurity economics to the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Homeland Security on October 31, 2007. The Subcommittee is working on emerging threats, cybersecurity, and science and technology. In commenting on this invitation, Gordon noted that "this new dimension to the impact of our research is certainly gratifying."

Gordon is considered to be one of the pioneers in the area of applying economic concepts to cybersecurity issues. He is the author of more than 85 articles and co-author of the widely acclaimed book entitled "MANAGING CYBERSECURITY RESOURCES: A Cost-Benefit Analysis" (published by McGraw-Hill). In addition, Gordon is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, serves on the editorial boards of several other journals and is a frequent contributor to the popular press. In two authoritative studies, he was cited as being among the world's most influential/productive accounting researchers. An award-winning teacher, he is also a frequent speaker at various universities and professional meetings.
