Baltimore Terps Against Cancer Fundraising Effort

The Smith Schools Part-time MBA Association has created a fundraising competition that places the three part-time campuses, Baltimore, Shady Grove and DC, against each other. In an effort to create a little friendly competition between the part-time students, the month-long event provides great benefits for the community. The competition started on Nov. 1 and ends Dec. 1. During this time each campus is given the opportunity to select a charity and coordinate a fundraising event.

The Baltimore campus students have chosen The V Foundation for Cancer Research. This foundation was created by famous ESPN broadcaster, and former head basketball coach for Johns Hopkins and NC State, Jim Valvano. Valvano lost the fight to cancer in 1993, but before his death he set up his foundation, which he knew would carry on his legacy and personal motto: Dont Give Up, Dont Ever Give Up. The first-year track representatives picked this foundation because it gives 100% of its proceeds to cancer research institutions. It is also dedicated to researchers who propose new and cutting-edge cancer research.

The Baltimore students have set a goal: to raise $5,000 by Dec. 1. If you would like to give to their chosen cause, please visit https://www.jimmyv.org/donate/donations. When making your online donation please choose In Honor of and in the Name box enter Baltimore Terps Against Cancer. You may also make a donation by check. Please make all checks payable to The V Foundation and mail to: The V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, NC, 27513. Please indicate it is on behalf of Baltimore Terps Against Cancer.
