Welcome Smith School Students!
This
is an especially exciting time for members of the Smith School community. As we
begin another academic school year, we would like to take this opportunity to
highlight some of the Smith School's most recent success stories and introduce
you to new faculty members and students.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Smith's undergraduate business program
#17 in the nation, including three top-10 specialty rankings in management
information systems, entrepreneurship, and supply chain management/logistics.
The rankings are part of U.S. News' "America's Best Colleges" 2004
edition.
The Smith School recently received two generous donations that will help
advance the school's strategic priorities. Robert H. Smith '50 pledged an
additional $3 million to the school, which bears his name, and Jane Frank
pledged $500,000 in honor of her husband, Dean Howard Frank.
At the heart of any business school is its faculty, and this year we welcome
nine new professors. At Smith, students have the opportunity to learn from
excellent teachers whose scholarship is helping to transform business practice
in the 21st century. The Smith faculty is one of only six business school
faculties to be included in the top 10 in both teaching and research in separate
surveys by Business Week
and Financial Times (2003).
