Highlights from Maryland Day 2002
The Robert H. Smith School of Business and the University of Maryland
welcomed tens of thousands of people to Explore Our World on Saturday, April 27,
at the Fourth Annual Maryland Day celebration.
Van Munching Hall was buzzing with
activity as visitors joined students,
faculty, staff, and their families for a
day of learning, exploration, and fun
for the entire community. An InfoFair
and Welcome Reception were held at the
Van Munching Hall courtyard. This year,
the Smith School spread its own tent on
McKeldin Mall to attract even more
visitors to Van Munching Hall for
sessions on super-leadership,
resume-writing, and the highly ranked
undergraduate business program. This
year's hottest session featured Chuck
LaHaie's demonstration of the Netcentric
Financial Markets Lab, attracting crowds
of adults and students throughout the
day.
Carole Geronimo of Waldwick, N.J. (pictured, right), won the Smith
School's raffle grand-prize: A Palm Pilot PDA, valued at $125.
Cathie Hadfield of Silver Spring, Md., received the second high-tech prize: A
Creative WebCam, valued at $60.
Testudo made a premier appearance at Van Munching Hall to heighten the raffle
prize drawing's excitement.
