The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business held its Inaugural Alumni Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at The Mansion On O Street in Washington, D.C.

The quirky venue delighted hundreds of alumni and their guests attending the sold-out event. Dean Alex Triantis welcomed guests and they were encouraged to roam the five interconnected town houses, including more than 100 rooms and 32 secret doors.

“With close to 300 people for a first-time event, we're more than thrilled with the response,” said Patty Carocci, assistant dean for development and alumni relations. “People came early and stayed late and really enjoyed the party. We seemed to have started a wonderful tradition for the Smith Alumni community, and we're looking forward to next year to make this event an even bigger success.”

Damien Power, MBA ’13 and a senior marketing consultant at Verizon Wireless, came down from New Jersey for the event. “I had a great time,” he said. “The venue was pretty interesting and it was great to catch up with my friends from Smith. I can't wait to see them again at Monte Carlo Night in February.”

Many thanks go out to the school’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the alumni committee that helped to organize the event. “We were very fortunate to have a dedicated group of alumni on the host committee and a great staff that made sure the night was the tremendous success that it was,” added Carocci.
