Smith School’s Undergraduate Program Among Nation’s Best
Smith School listed among top 10 in Information Systems,
Supply Chain Management, Management specialty categories
College Park, Md. – September 13, 2011 – The undergraduate
business program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of
Business is ranked No. 20 in the nation in the latest edition of U.S. News &
World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges,” published today. The Smith School
placed 9th among public universities and also ranked highly in a number of
business specialty categories. Smith’s Management Information Systems, and
Supply Chain Management/Logistics, and Management programs are listed among the
nation’s top 10 and a total of six areas listed among the nation’s top 20. The
Smith School’s specialty rankings are:
No. 7 – Management Information
Systems
No. 9 – Supply Chain Management/Logistics
No. 10 – Management
No. 15– Entrepreneurship
No. 18 – Finance
No. 19 – Marketing
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based solely on a spring
2011 survey of deans and senior faculty at all undergraduate business programs
accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Participants were asked to rate the quality of programs with which they are
familiar and 41.7 percent of those surveyed responded. As part of the survey,
deans and faculty were asked to nominate the 10 best programs in a number
specialty areas, from which the specialty rankings are derived.
