Financial Times Ranks Smith
School Among Worlds Top Business Schools
Smith Ranked No. 6 for IT and No. 7
for eBusiness

The MBA program at the University of
Marylands Robert H. Smith School of
Business is ranked No. 18 in the United
States in the Financial Times MBA
2008 rankings, published today. The
school ranked No. 6 among business
schools globally in the Best in IT
category and No. 7 in the Best in
eBusiness category, both of which are
based upon alumni recommendations.
The influential rankings place Smiths
MBA program No. 2 among the top 20 U.S.
schools in the value for money category.
This is the seventh consecutive year the
Smith School has placed in the top tier.
The schools MBA program comes in at No.
5 program among public business schools
in the United States. Smiths PhD program
is ranked No. 6 in the U.S. and No. 13
in the world and the school is No. 11 in
the world for research.

The Financial Times rankings
are compiled from two questionnaires one
for the business schools and the other
for the MBA class of 2005. The value for
the money criterion is calculated using
the salary earned by alumni three years
after graduation and course costs. The
research rating is calculated by number
of faculty publications in 40
international academic and practitioner
journals. Points are accrued by the
business school at which the author is
presently employed and adjustment is
made for faculty size.
