BusinessWeek Ranks Smith School
MBA Program Among Nations Best
Smith ranked No. 12 in measure of
faculty contributions to academic
journals
College Park, Md. October 13,
2006 - The MBA program at the
University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith
School of Business is ranked No. 25 in
the United States in BusinessWeeks
2006 survey of The Best B-Schools. The
rankings, which are published every
other year, were based on a survey of
the graduating class of 2006, a survey
of corporate recruiters and a measure of
intellectual capital the number of
faculty articles published in a list of
top 20 academic journals. Smith is
ranked No. 12 among all U.S. schools in
the intellectual capital category.
In building one of the worlds truly
great business schools we are always
working to recruit the best faculty,
provide world-class technology and
learning facilities, and enhance the
benefits of a Smith degree upon
graduation, said Howard Frank, dean of
the University of Marylands Robert H.
Smith School of Business. Were
especially pleased with our high score
for intellectual capital, which reflects
on the remarkable quality of our
faculty.
This year, BusinessWeek sent a
50-question Web-based survey to more
than 16,500 Class of 2006 graduates at
100 schools, asking them to rate
everything from teaching quality to the
effectiveness of career services at
their schools on a scale of 1 to 10.
Their responses count for 50 percent of
the total student satisfaction score,
with the other half coming from
responses from the two previous rankings
in 2004 and 2002. Corporate recruiters
were invited to fill out a similar
online survey.
