Announces Executive MBA Scholarships
College Park, Md. - August 30,
2005 The University of Marylands
Robert H. Smith School of Business today
announced that it will begin offering
full and partial tuition scholarships to
the schools executive MBA (EMBA)
program. The scholarships will be
merit-based and specifically designed to
help executives from underrepresented
industry areas including the
government and non-profit sectors in
attaining their career and leadership
goals. One of each of the following
scholarships will be open to
participants within each EMBA class:
- Smith Federal Government EMBA
Scholarship for managers and
directors currently employed within
a federal government agency
- Smith State/local Government
EMBA Scholarship for managers and
directors currently employed within
a state or local government agency
- Smith Non-profit EMBA
Scholarship for managers and
directors that occupy a senior
leadership position within a
non-profit agency or association
- Smith Entrepreneurship EMBA
Scholarship for self-employed
entrepreneurs running their own
business or professional practice
- Smith Biotechnology EMBA
Scholarship for management
professionals within a company that
specializes or focuses on
biotechnology products or research
- Smith Information Technology
EMBA Scholarship for management
professionals within a company that
specializes or focuses on
information technology products,
research or services

from the non-profit and for-profit
worlds, the public and private sector,

Scholarship applications will be
accepted until Nov. 15, 2005 for the
class beginning in January 2006.

The Smith EMBA is an 18-month MBA
program designed for senior-level
executives with significant real world
experience. Courses focus on leadership
development as well as a systemic
approach to management and team building
skills. The Smith program follows an
intense track meeting every other
weekend that allows executives to earn
an MBA without interrupting their
careers.
