UMCP selected as an
FAA Air Transportation Center of
Excellence
College Park, MD - July 10, 1996 -
The
Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) has selected The University of
Maryland at College Park, UMCP, as one
of the universities to serve as the FAA
Air Transportation Center of Excellence
in Operations Research. The proposal was
jointly submitted by the College of
Business, Institute for Systems Research
and the Department of Civil Engineering.
In addition to UMCP, the schools that
will form the Center for Excellence are
Berkeley, MIT, and VPI. Mike Ball led
the team submitting the winning
proposal. Team members were Michael Fu,
Larry Bodin, Bob Windle and Paul
Schonfeld from Engineering. Mike Ball
will serve as the Associate Director
from Maryland.
