Enter the Smith Photo Contest!

It’s time to refresh the photo gallery that hangs in Van Munching Hall, home of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The school’s previous photo contest in 2012 boasted more than 500 entries. Do you have the next winning picture? Winning photos will be displayed in Van Munching Hall and featured in the spring 2015 issue of Smith Business magazine.

Rules:

  • Entrants must be 18 years or older.
  • Entrants must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted.
  • Deadline to enter is Nov. 30, 2014.
  • Photos will be posted on Facebook for voting in December.
  • Two winning photos will be selected by popular vote via Facebook.
  • Additional winning photos will be selected by a panel of judges.
  • Photos will be put into the following categories for judging: landscape, portrait, campus, architectural, action, and global.
  • Photos will be judged using the following criteria: creativity, appeal, composition/technical quality, and overall impact.
  • By entering the contest, entrants agree to allow their photographs to be published and displayed by the Smith School.
  • No photos taken with a phone will be considered.
  • One photo per email.
  • Each entrant can submit no more than one photo per category.
  • Limit file size to 14MB.
  • Photos must be high-resolution files of 300dpi and measure at least 3000 pixels on the long edge.

Submit your photos via email to smithphotocontest@rhsmith.umd.edu by Nov. 30, 2014.

Please include the following information with your submission:

  • Your name
  • Affiliation with the Smith School (i.e., MBA 2010, professor of information systems, senior accounting major, etc.)
  • Title of photo
  • Category (landscape, portrait, campus, architectural, action, global)
