Dingman Center Offers Lean Startup Program for Alumni

Statistics show that most startups fail – but not because they lack good ideas, products or technology. Most startups fail because they lack enough of the right customers and a clear plan of action. Enter Dingman Jumpstart, a proprietary program designed by the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship that helps University of Maryland alumni increase their odds of building successful businesses by learning how to reduce “customer risk” and develop clear action plans.

The program kicks off with a boot camp weekend (Jan. 9-11, 2015) featuring interactive workshops, lectures and intense customer discovery using the lean launchpad methodology. The program continues with two additional workshops: a webinar in February and a final in-person workshop in March. In the end, alumni should be equipped to make a "go or no-go" decision on their idea.

“Jumpstart is really exciting for both Maryland alumni and the Dingman Center. For alumni, it’s an opportunity to access all of the resources available at the Dingman Center, which they may not have known about or accessed while in school,” said Elana Fine, managing director of the Dingman Center. “This program is also a way for us to continue to provide value and support to our entrepreneurial alumni well-beyond graduation.”

Campus partners include the Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, DC-ICorps and Mtech. The full schedule, program materials and registration information is available online. Don't miss the opportunity to jumpstart your business idea.
