Bob Johnson Leads Sprint Nextel's Leap in Customer Satisfaction Ratings

Smith alumnus Bob Johnson, Chief Service Officer of Sprint Nextel and pioneer of the wireless industry, helped his company turn around its customer satisfaction ratings by focusing on solving customers' issues on the very first phone call, according to a recent article published by the Wall Street Journal.

Johnson been on the front lines of major organizational changes, including mergers and acquisitions of historic proportions. As vice-chair of the Smith School’s Advisory Board, Johnson has been instrumental in helping the board meet a $10 million challenge for the university’s Great Expectations campaign and helped establish a new Advisory Board scholarship fund. He will become chair of the board in July and is chairing the membership committee. Johnson will be honored with the Smith School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2011, given by the alumni association. Johnson gave the Smith School's winter commencement address on Dec. 19, 2010.
