The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is proud to announce the winners of the Smith Photo Contest. More than 500 submissions were received this spring and winners were selected in six categories – landscape, portrait, campus, architectural, action, global – by a combination of online voting and a panel of expert judges. The photos were judged using the following criteria: creativity, appeal, composition/technical quality, and overall impact.

Smith School of Business are ranked No. 23 in the world for academic and research performance in business/economics in the 2012 Academic Ranking of World Universities, published by the Center for World Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China on August 15.
The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland is happy to welcome its newest class of full-time MBA students. The two-week long orientation kicked off on August 13, 2012, in Van Munching Hall with a week full of activities. Each activity – welcome speeches from Smith deans, the ropes course, team-building activities, icebreaker sessions, evening socials, and more – was designed to help the 114 new students better acquaint themselves with the Smith School, the College Park area, and their fellow classmates.
Ken White, PhD, has been named associate dean of MBA & MS programs at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. He began his new role on August 8, 2012. White, who has over 20 years of leadership experience in higher education, spent the last two years as assistant dean of marketing communications at the Smith School and was acting assistant dean of development and alumni relations for a year.
