Ritu Agarwal
Ritu
Agarwal is professor and the Robert H. Smith Dean’s Chair of Information
Systems and director of the Center for Health and Information Systems at the
Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. She has
published over 50 papers on information technology management topics in
journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly,
Communications of the ACM, Journal of Management Information Systems,
Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions, and Decision Support Systems.
Her current research is focused on the IT-enabled transformations and the
use of IT in healthcare settings, how organizations derive value from
information technology through adoption, diffusion and creative use; and
appropriate strategies for the management of IT human capital. She has
worked extensively with Fortune 500 companies including 3M, Freddie Mac, Dow
Chemicals, Rohm and Haas, NCR, and others. Dr. Agarwal is currently serving
as a senior editor for MIS Quarterly and an associate editor for
Information Systems Research and Management Science. She received her
PhD from Syracuse University
Eric K. Clemons
Eric
K. Clemons is professor of operations and information management at the
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
A pioneer in the systematic study of the transformational impacts of
information on the strategy and practice of business, Dr. Clemons’ research
and teaching interests include strategic uses of information systems,
information economics, and the changes enabled by information technology. He
specializes in assessing the competitive implications of information
technology and in managing the risks of large-scale implementation efforts.
Dr. Clemons is the founder and project director for the Wharton School’s
Sponsored Research Project on Information: Strategy and Economics within the
Program For Global Strategy and Knowledge Intensive Organizations, founder
and area coordinator the school’s new major in Information: Strategy, and
Economics, director of the school’s new eCommerce major and member of the
Wharton eBusiness Initiative Curriculum Oversight Committee, an active
participant in the School’s eCommerce Forum research program, and member of
the Faculty Council of the SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management.
Dr. Clemons is currently a member of the editorial board of the
Journal of Management Information Systems and the Journal of
Electronic Commerce. He has served on the Congressional Office of
Technology Assessment study of securities markets and on the Quality of
Markets Advisory Board of the London Stock Exchange and has three times been
co-Chair of the international Workshop on Information Systems Economics..
Dr. Clemons has 30 years experience on the faculties of Wharton, Cornell and
Harvard, and consulting experience in the private and public sectors both
domestically and abroad. He received his PhD in operations research from
Cornell University.
Peter Cramton
Peter
Cramton is professor of economics at the University of Maryland, chairman of
Market Design Inc. and Spectrum Exchange, and president of Criterion
Auctions. His research focuses on auctions, bargaining and market exchange.
Most of his recent work has addressed design and incentive questions in
auctions and bargaining. He has served as an auction expert for numerous
companies in spectrum auctions and electricity auctions. He has advised the
FCC and several foreign governments on the design and implementation of
spectrum auctions. Cramton has designed electricity auctions in New England,
California, France, and Belgium. In e-commerce, he has led the design effort
for several market makers developing business-to-business trading
applications. Before joining the University of Maryland faculty in 1993, he
was an associate professor at Yale University and a National Fellow at the
Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He has published numerous
articles on auction theory, auction practice, and bargaining in major
journals. He received his PhD in business from Stanford University.
Jayashankar M. Swaminathan
Jayashankar
M. Swaminathan is the Benjamin Cone Research Professor and Area Chair of
Operations, Technology and Innovation Management at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School. Prior to joining
the Kenan-Flagler, he was a professor at Walter A. Haas School of Business,
University of California, Berkeley, and taught graduate and executive
programs in supply chain management, e-commerce and product variety
management.
Dr. Swaminathan’s research on global supply chain management, mass
customization and business-to-business electronic commerce has been
recognized with international awards including – CAREER award (given by
National Science Foundation) and George Nicholson Prize (given by INFORMS).
He serves on the editorial board of scholarly journals such as
Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and Production and
Operations Management. He has taught and consulted with several firms
including Agilent, IBM, Samsung, and 3Com and his thoughts on e-business and
supply chains have appeared in popular press. He received his PhD from
Carnegie Mellon University.
