Curriculum: Program Format

The Smith MSB in Business: Information Systems is designed for full-time students. The 30 credit program can be completed in 9-15 months. Core courses make up 24 credits, with 6 credits consisting of elective courses. Classes are held at the University of Maryland’s College Park campus, a short distance from Washington, D.C.

Electives (6 credits)

Students in the MSB in Information Systems program have the opportunity to select electives based on individual interest and career goals. Courses are offered to provide an opportunity to strengthen knowledge in the three core areas or build knowledge in functional domains, such as Healthcare IS, Operations Management, or Marketing.

Those who prefer a more technical career track may opt to take advanced programming courses as an elective. Also, those who want to focus on analytics may take courses such as:
