Why I chose Smith: I chose to come to the Smith School of Business because of
the strength of Smith’s Office of Career Services and Smith’s commitment to teaching
their MBAs’ skills beyond what are taught in the classroom. Smith’s commitment to
fostering leadership and empowering the MBAs to think beyond the analytical and
theoretical, I believe, truly sets the program apart and gives Smith graduates a
competitive advantage upon graduation.
At Smith, each MBA feels as though they are an integral part to the success and
future of the MBA program. Our opinions and thoughts are valued and are treated
as integral feedback in growing the MBA program at Smith. Each person, from your
peers, to the faculty, to all the support staff involved to successfully run the
MBA program are focused on helping us to succeed and ensuring that we have the tools
at our finger tips to learn and experience as much as we can during out two years.
The Smith MBA program feels like a true community that wants to see all its members
accomplish the goals that they set for themselves as a part of gaining their MBA.
My advice to future Smith MBA Candidates: The advice that I would give to future
Smith MBA candidates is to have a very solid idea of what you want to be doing post-graduation.
During the first part of your MBA experience you are exposed to so much information
and opportunities that it can all seem a little daunting. However, if you have a
strong idea of where you want to be when you graduate and what area/industry you
want to be working in, you will be able to weave through all the information to
figure out what programs/classes will benefit you the most.
