Why I chose Smith: My focus areas being technology and strategy, I wanted to choose a school that had a strong knowledge base in these areas. My research led me to a conversation with an alumnus, who is currently a VP in a multinational technology organization. Prior to his MBA, he had a similar background as mine. His current position itself was a testimony to the school’s commitment at creating outstanding, yet down to earth future leaders.

To me, an MBA is not about landing a six-figure salary upon graduation. It is a practice-pitch where you can experiment and challenge yourself. This can materialize only in a collaborative rather than a competitive learning environment. With a host of highly active student-led clubs and a very strong career-counseling team, the program at Smith is very dynamic. The program adapts to meet the needs of changing industry climates and lays equal focus on soft-skills development.

My advice to Future Smith MBA Candidates: An MBA is a huge investment in terms of time, money and opportunity. When choosing a school, it is important to understand that the brand that you choose will stick with your name throughout your professional career. The decision should be holistic- based on factors such as alumni strength, regional reputation, class composition, the efficacy of Faculty Members and the leadership provided by Staff and Administration.
