“Training
to Create and Manage Sustainable Supply Chains
"Last week, I attended a great Net Impact event with a supply chain leader from
Mars, the chocolate and health innovation manufacturer of M&Ms. Over food
and beer, we informally discussed the cocoa supply chain and the challenges
facing cocoa farmers in West Africa, who often face low yields and little investment.

Advice
for First Years
"Oh our ultimate goal for getting an MBA degree is to get that dream job you’ve
been longing for. Don’t put off the networking, career coaching until later!
When you realize that you have to get back on the job wagon, it’s already too
late. I will end with the title of Incubus’s newest album: “If not now, when?”

Negotiations!
Since the beginning of the program I’ve heard great things about this class
and have been looking forward to it. It looks as if the majority of this
class will involve conducting negotiations in the class (graded on success)
and outside the classroom, which is exactly the kind of practical experience
I think will prove invaluable.

Life
as a First Year
"First term was tough, but I expected no less. I had four classes, three
of which were pretty quantitative, plus tons of activities, clubs and networking
opportunities. Time management is definitely a skill you’ll learn quickly
at Smith!"
Danielle

Career
Treks
"For the Media, Sports and Entertainment Association’s second career trek we
decided to stay local and explore two Washington, D.C., based companies that
both also recruit heavily at the Smith School of Business. National Public Radio
and The Washington Post are two of the nations leading media companies that
actively recruit MBA level talent to keep them ahead of their competition. So,
on November 4th we embarked on a day long visit to the two companies respectively."
