HCIT Executive Conference on Leading Organizational Change
Friday, November 14, 2008

Recent surveys reveal that more than 60% of participating organizations from a variety of sectors were either already implementing major (radical) change or expecting to do so within the next three years (Beaman & Guy, 2005). Recent, large-scale economic turbulence will most certainly be accompanied by an even higher frequency of large-scale organizational change. This one-day conference, sponsored by the Center for Human Capital, Innovation and Technology (HCIT) at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland at College Park, is designed for executives, managers and students interested in or directly responsible for leading organizational change as well as professionals charged with training others to lead change more effectively.

Featured conference speakers include, James Parker, former CEO of Southwest Airlines, Mary Tilley, of W.L. Gore & Associates, and Ralph Trombetta, of Value Innovation Associates. They will address: 1) effective change leadership during particularly turbulent and unpredictable times; 2) the cultivation of a shared leadership culture promoting innovation in the midst of change; and 3) top leaders’ use of "Blue Ocean Strategy" (BOS) thinking to enhance revenues and growth while implementing, large-scale organizational change. The conference will also feature a panel of change experts who share their inside experiences in effectively leading change within a variety of different organizations, as well as summaries of the latest change research by Smith Faculty who will identify action steps that leaders can use to apply this knowledge to change in their own organizations.

Please join us and learn first hand from executives, managers and consultants who have enhanced change leadership and success in a variety of organizations, as well as the practical applications from state-of-the-art change research. Conference attendees will receive a signed copy of James Parker's recent book, "Do the Right Thing: How Dedicated Employees Create Loyal Customers and Large Profits," interact with speakers during scheduled Q & A sessions and network with other participants during well-sequenced breaks and a buffet lunch.
