Bocconi

Bocconi University, founded in 1902, was the first Italian university to grant a degree in economics in the last decade, the Bocconi 2000 project has made sizable investments in the enlargement of learning and residential infrastructure, thus creating a full-fledged urban campus that comprises an entire city neighborhood.

A new building, in use since September 2001, provides Bocconi freshmen with 30 new 150-seat classrooms. The classrooms are set within a 4-floor amphitheatre-shaped structure, with break and study areas equipped with hundreds of workstations connected to a fiber-optic network on every floor, and a faculty room and a student hall on the ground floor.

From a Smith business student, at Bocconi

"I had an amazing time in Milan. I would highly recommend it to other students looking to travel abroad. Its a city not too many people know about, but has many incredible features. It is a very livable city and the people are very friendly. Geographically, the location is ideal. The city is at the foot of the Italian alps, beaches are to either side of the city on the Adriatic and the Ligurian side. Nearly all of Italy is reachable from Milan by train and airplane. The university is really good, they have an introductory Italian language course where you can familiarize yourself with the language and meet new friends. The nightlife is incredible, soccer is played at the stadium every weekend by two of Italy's best club teams. Initially, the language problem may be a frustration however if one is interested in learning a new language and at the same time becoming familiar with one of the most amazing cultures, those early and minimal frustration will soon seem irrelevant. The University of Bocconi is the highest rated school in Italy."
