WANT TO GO BEHIND-THE-SCENES AND IN THE BOARD ROOMS OF AMERICAN COMPANIES AND FACTORIES IN THE WASHINGTON DC AND SILICON VALLEY AREAS? AND EARN 3 CREDITS? THE OFFICE OF GLOBAL PROGRAMS IS EXCITED TO PRESENT THIS WINTER BREAK 3-CREDIT OPPORTUNITY TARGETED TO OUR INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENTS. THREE FULL DAYS OF LEARNING ABOUT BUSINESS HERE IN DC AREA, INCLUDING A FACTORY TOUR OF THE HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY PLANT, THEN ON TO SILICON VALLEY, CALIFORNIA FOR VISITS WITH LEADERS OF UP-AND-COMING BUSINESSES – MAYBE THE NEXT GOOGLE!

The Smith School is committed to growing global citizens, and to hosting our international students and helping them make the most of their time as students in the USA. The pre-departure work in December, 2012 will involve a seminar by the Office of Career Services as well as guest lectures from University of Maryland experts on American culture and history, and a variety of other discussions and presentations designed to promote an excellent and rewarding experience and understanding of the United States.

In January, 2013 the Washington DC part of the course will consist of at least two company visits per day, plus some cultural activities in Washington, D.C. Then, we will fly to Silicon Valley, California for meetings with current leaders of American innovation. Students are encouraged to stay after conclusion of the course to enjoy the beautiful California summer weather!
