Doing
Business in South Africa (Summer I)
South
Africa’s post-apartheid
governments have made impressive
forays into transitioning to
democracy for all.
Programs delivering essential
social services to the majority
of South African people are in
effect, and access to better
education and business
opportunities are legitimate.
Nevertheless, such changes
insist on a long-term process
and require the sustained
leadership and cooperation among
the nation's disparate groups.
South
Africa can be described as
having two economies; one that
is as strong as any developed
country, and another that is
uneven and poor. This
class will examine how the two
coexist, the financial
structures that sustain the
country, and the industries that
give promise to the country.
