Global Studies
Courses
The Smith School's
global
studies courses give students
intensive exposure to business
environments abroad and encourage the
application of course material in
real-life settings. Class content varies
by course and can include examining the
role of technology in host country
economies and companies, supply chain
issues, sustainable energy applications,
and emerging market business practices.
Organized by the Smith School's
Center for Global Business, the
10-day four-credit courses
typically combine seminars at a leading
business school in the host country with
visits to multinational companies and
global organizations. Cross-cultural
team assignments, trips to historic
sites and social events ensure that
Smith students leave with an
appreciation of the country's culture
and people as well as its business
environment.
Most recently, students returned from
India, China and Switzerland, having
studied business practices, fledgling
industries, investment opportunities and
the impact of government in their
respective host countries. In the
upcoming academic year, courses to
Brazil, Tunisia and Dubai, India, The
Netherlands, China, and Eastern Europe
are planned, among others.
