Beyond the
Classroom Registration
Exploring graduate programs in
business often requires more than
guidebooks can provide. To make a
decision of where to attend, sometimes
you need to take a personal journey. To
help you with your decision-making
process, the Smith MBA Admissions Office
is pleased to present Beyond the
Classroom, as assortment of events designed to introduce prospective MBA
students to life at the Robert H. Smith
School of Business by providing informal
interactions with Smith students,
faculty and staff.
Scope: Providing additional
opportunity for enrichment
Purpose: To expose prospective
students to the entire community of not
just the business school, but the
university as a whole

University of Maryland
Smith School Hosts Cupid's Cup
Business Competition
Business
Competition Friday, April 11th,
3:00-5:00pm
This competition is for students
enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate
program at the University of Maryland.
Alumni of the University of Maryland,
graduating with an undergraduate or
graduate degree between May 2004 and
December 2007 are also eligible for the
competition.
All entrants must have an operating
company that has generated at least
$5,000 in revenue prior to the date of
entry. Companies that have generated
more than $500,000 in revenue are not
eligible to compete in Cupid's Cup.
The competition got its
name from one of Kevin Plank's early
entrepreneurial ventures, a rose sale
business called Cupid's Valentine that
sold roses to University students on
Valentine's Day. This small business
earned him over $20,000 during his four
years at UMD and helped fund his
ultimate entrepreneurial venture, Under
Armour. Cupid's Cup highlights early
stage entrepreneurs in and around the
University of Maryland campus in hopes
to find and grow the next Under Armour.
