Professor Marquez's research interests are in corporate finance and on competition among financial institutions. His work has focused on analyzing the role of information as a determinant of industry structure. Currently, he is investigating the role of information and competition in generating banking crises, the regulation of securities analysts, and the effect of shareholder information on takeover premiums. His work has been published in the Rand Journal of Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and the Journal of Financial Economics.
