The paper Consumer Surplus in Online Auctions was selected by  the Senior Scholars Best Publications Committee of 2008 as one of the five best Information Systems papers published in 2008 .

The results of the Google Challenge are in. One team almost made it to the semi-finals.

Prof. Jank is participating in the Google Challenge with several undergraduate and MBA teams.

On March 27, Prof. Jank will talk in the Smith Thought Leadership Series on Forecasting with Prediction Markets

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prof. Jank was Visiting Professor at the Chair for eCommerce, Department of Marketing, at the University of Frankfurt/Main, and at the Department of Statistics and Mathematics at the Vienna University of Business and Economics during the Fall 2008. 

Prof. Jank will give a tutorial on Statistical Challenges in eCommerce at INFORMS 2008.

Prof. Jank will speak at a Google panel on the Online Marketing Challenge at INFORMS 2008.

Prof. Jank will speak at a panel discussion on What Data Mining Isn’t at the 2008 Frontiers in Service Conference.

Prof . Jank will teach a course on Applying Technology to Services at Peru’s CAME Institute,  in conjunction with Smith’s Center for Excellence in Service.

Prof. Jank was elected program chair for the Section on Statistics and Marketing of the American Statistical Association (ASA) for the Joint Statistical Meetings 2010 in Vancouver.

On June 18, 2008, the Office of Science & Technology (OST) at the Embassy of Austria, and ASciNA (Austrian Scientists and Scholars in North America) are hosting a round table discussion on “eCommerce, Prediction Markets and Data Mining: How Technology impacts Business Decision Making” with Prof. Jank.
