BUMK758F  - Online Marketing Analytics—MBA Elective (Recent Syllabus)

This course offers an introduction to data mining and its application to business problems. In this course, you will learn several essential data mining techniques, starting from regression modeling, to classification, and to segmentation techniques. You will learn how to implement these techniques using real data mining software applied to real business data. Emphasis is placed on solving problems from Marketing, but you will also see applications across different business areas. In addition to data projects, you will also read recent publications and newspaper articles that illustrate the use of data mining in the real world. We will also have several guest speakers and— most importantly—use some of the analytical techniques learned to monitor our own online marketing campaign. In fact, students will create, manage and analyze their own online advertising campaigns via the Google Challenge. Teams from last year’s class almost made it to the semi-finals, so the bar is high for you to conquer. I hope you will accept the challenge!

This course is offered in the spring.
