About Myself

Wolfgang Jank is associate professor in the department of Decisions, Operations & Information Technologies, Smith School of BusinessUniversity of Maryland, and Director, Center for Complexity in Business.

He is affiliated with the Center for Electronic Markets & Enterprises, an the Center for Excellence in Service.

He is interested in using ideas from statistics and data mining to solve problems in electronic commerce, marketing, and operations management.

Dr. Jankís research has been published in the literature of statistics, data mining, information systems, and marketing. He has authored over seventy refereed articles, book chapters and conference papers, and presented his work at national and international meetings. In 2008, he received the best Information Systems paper award. Some of his research papers can be found on SSRN.

Dr. Jank received his Masterís degree from the Technical University of Aachen (Germany) and his PhD in Statistics from the University of Florida. After moving to the University of Maryland, he initiated, together with Dr. Shmueli, a new research area on Statistical Methods in eCommerce.

Dr. Jank teaches courses at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels in the areas of statistics, data mining and quantitative marketing. He has received numerous awards including the top 15% teaching award for teaching MBA core classes.†

Prof. Jank has been involved in a variety of consulting projects and he is member of the advisory board for several companies.
