My research examines technical knowledge, agglomeration, and foreign direct investment. One stream examines why firms go abroad with particular attention to "knowledge seeking" activity and how firms' motives affects their location choice. The second stream examines the outcomes of location choice: how agglomeration affects firms' performance and how inward foreign direct investment affects host industry competition and productivity.
