Smith Faculty

The Robert H. Smith School of Business is an internationally recognized leader in management education and research for the networked economy. The Smith School faculty creates and shares knowledge that advances business practice and prepares our students and business and government partners to succeed in a dynamic, technology-powered
marketplace.

Faculty members explore issues both in functional business areas, such as finance, logistics,
management, accounting, and entrepreneurship, and at the forefront of e-business, such
as real-time supply chain management, e-service, and information security. Their inquiries are
frequently cross functional, reflecting the integrated nature of business activities in the netcentric era. Some Smith faculty members hold joint appointments with the university’s
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute for Systems Research, and
Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. Drawing on the expertise of colleagues on the business school faculty and throughout the University of Maryland, Smith faculty research has received significant support from major institutions including the National Science Foundation, National Security Agency, U.S. Department of Defense, and IBM.

Smith's six academic departments include:

Accounting and Information Assurance
Decision and Information Technologies
Finance
Logistics, Business and Public Policy
