Smith EMBA Curriculum
Schedule
Executive MBA classes meet on an appropriate
cadence of alternating weekends for the
program duration of 18 months. EMBA classes
begin Fridays at 8 a.m. and continue through
Saturdays at 6 p.m. The program is divided
info five terms, each lasting between 12
and 14 weeks. The Action Learning Projects
take place in terms 2, 3 and 4.
You will be actively engaged in academic
work for up to 21.5 hours each session (every
other week). In addition to class, you will
be spending time in team meetings and other
group work. You will average approximately
one hour of class out of class work for
each hour spent in class plus approximately
five hours per week for the Action Learning
Project.
All Executive MBA classes are taught
in Van Munching Hall (VMH), home of the
Robert H. Smith School of Business, at the
University of Maryland’s College Park campus.
The $38-million expansion of VMH opened
for classes in September 2002.
All EMBA participants are required to
stay on campus each weekend that the EMBA
is in session. Participants stay at the
Marriott Inn and Conference Center or another
appropriate location.
Please note
that the EMBA is an accelerated program,
there are no vacation breaks. There is,
however, a short break between each term
with no deliverables.
