Dr. Mahesh Kumar is an Assistant
Professor in the Department of
Decision and Information
Technologies at the Smith School of
Business. Prior to joining Smith
School, Dr. Kumar was an Assistant
Professor at Rutgers Business School
and a post-doctoral associate at the
Sloan School of Management at MIT.
Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in
Operations Research from MIT. He did
B.Tech. in Computer Science from
Indian Institute of Technology in
Mumbai. Dr. Kumar's research
interests are in the areas of data
mining, and statistical modeling.
Dr. Kumar has successfully applied
data modeling concepts to the
retailing industry. In particular,
Dr. Kumar has applied clustering of
related items in retailing to
improve sales forecast accuracy. He
has extensive consulting experience
at McKinsey & Company, SAS, IBM,
ProfitLogic, and Reflexis Systems.
