Program Overview
Advancement to Candidacy
When all coursework and the written
comprehensive examination (and oral
comprehensive examination when required)
have been successfully completed, the
student applies for formal advancement
to candidacy. Candidacy status means
that all requirements for the Ph.D.
degree other than the dissertation have
been satisfied. Application for
advancement to candidacy is completed by
the student and submitted to the area
advisor and the program director for
approval.
