Information Visualization

Project Description:

The Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL) at University of Maryland conducts research on advanced user interfaces and their development processes.  The current work includes new approaches on information visualization.  The goals of this project are:

  • To provide an overview of useful business information visualization tools.
  • To provide instructions on their use.
  • To provide examples or cases of successful applications in a wide range of business disciplines.

In short, "the worrisome flood of information can be turned into a productive river of knowledge" as stated on the HCIL's website.

This site includes a comprehensive lists of HCIL's projects and tentative business applications.  You can also look at the presentation made about the HCIL tools.  The presentation was used to introduce software visualization tools developed at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL).  The presentation was made to MBA students at the Robert H. Smith Business School.
