Background & Research program

I am a fourth-year PhD student majoring in Information Systems and my dissertation examines the complex relationship between organizational change and enterprise IS adoption, implementation and use. Specifically, I am studying the process of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system implementation and how that process is related to organizational change(s). Besides my dissertation, my research interests include studying how (Actor)-Networks of firms create IT innovations and new markets for these innovations.

I am from Singapore and am currently on study leave from Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University and I currently reside in Rockville, Maryland with my family (wife and three kids).

Work Experience

I spent five years (1997-2002) in the industry working in various Singapore telecom and IT firms. During that period, I was involved in setting up and rolling out the first commercial ADSL service in Singapore (SingTel Magix), an Internet-Service Provider & a Data Center provider (DataOne Asia), a Facility-Based Telecom Operator (Harmony Telecoms – a joint-venture with Telstra Australia) as well as several cutting edge applications such as WAP, VoIP, Speech Recognition Service over GSM networks, Fiber-less Optics trials, and Wireless Payment solutions. As a project and product manager involved in these projects, I gained intimate hands-on experience of working behind the scenes to get new technologies out to the market. This experience became the foundation for my academic journey that I embarked in 2003 with Nanyang Business School, NTU. Part of the goal of my academic research is to provide better understanding to how IT innovations emerge in the market as well as how these innovations engender organizational change. I am currently a Senior Tutor with Nanyang Business School and on an extended study leave.
