Metro
The Federal Triangle Metro stop (orange/blue lines) is connected to the Ronald
Reagan Building and International Trade Center by a covered passageway. The
Metro Center stop (red line) is two blocks away, and the Smithsonian metro stop
(orange/blue lines) is within walking distance.
Parking
Daily parking (2,000 spaces) available in the underground parking garage.
Access is available via 13 ½ Street (off Pennsylvania Avenue) and via two
entrances on 14th Street from 5:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. Guests and attendees
should allow extra time for parking, as all vehicles are screened upon entry.
There is no overnight parking. Parking rates vary by length of stay but on
average expect to pay $22.00 (over 10 hours to close).

The Directors’ Institute has obtained a group of rooms at the Willard
Intercontinental Hotel for its attendees. Located one block from the Reagan
Building and within walking distance to the site of the program location, the
Willard Hotel offers a convenient choice for attendee accommodations. Currently,
pre-registration and several program functions are scheduled for the Willard
Hotel, and it is expected most attendees will stay here for convenience.
When booking your guest room, please mention the Directors’ Institute in order
to receive a group rate of $369.00 per night (plus taxes). Hotel check-in begins
at 3:00 p.m. with check-out at 12:00 noon. Make your reservations early because
there are only a limited numbers of rooms available in this block.
JW Marriott Hotel

Presently, we do not have a group of rooms reserved for the Directors’ Institute
at the JW Marriott and is being offered only as an alternative for attendee
accommodations. Located adjacent to the Willard Hotel, the JW Marriott provides
a less expensive alternative. Hotel check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. with check-out
at 12:00 noon.
Attire
Casual business attire is suggested for day events (ties optional),
while business attire is suggested for evening functions.
Area Information
Washington, D.C., commonly referred to as D.C., contains an incredible
array of attractions that aren’t found elsewhere in the country. Among the
attractions are a series of memorials and monuments, such as the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. While the
Smithsonian Institution has programs and facilities throughout the nation,
Washington is home to 16 of its museums as well as the National Zoo. Among the
national museums in D.C. include the National Air and Space Museum, the National
Building Museum, and the National Gallery of Art, to name but a few.
Other
prominent sights D.C. are the cornerstones of the U.S. Government: the United
States Capitol, the United States Supreme Court, and the White House, home of
the president of the United States. Springtime in D.C. in April is celebrated
with the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival and commemorates the gift of
3,000 cherry trees given to the U.S. by mayor of Tokyo in 1912. This two-week
festival includes many cultural, sporting and culinary events as well as the
Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The Parade showcases entries
from across the country and around the world, including marching bands, Cherry
blossom queens from the U.S. and Japan, giant balloons, floats, and the National
Cherry Blossom Festival All-Star Tap Dance Team & Youth Choir.
