G. “Anand” Anandalingam, University of Maryland

G. “Anand” Anandalingam was appointed dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business on July 1, 2008. Anandalingam identifies sustainable innovation as a priority in developing business leaders ready to meet the varied and mutable challenges of a global 21st century economy. A dynamic leader with a strong founding in academia, Anandalingam has been with the Smith School since 2001. During this time he has served in various key senior leadership positions as senior associate dean and as chair of the Smith School’s Decision, Operations and Information Technologies department. Before joining the Smith School in 2001, Anandalingam was at the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 15 years where he was the National Center Professor of Resource and Technology Management, and a professor in both the Engineering School and the Wharton School. His positions at the University of Pennsylvania included serving as the chair of the Department of Systems Engineering and directing the Executive Master’s Program in Technology Management. He has received numerous academic and teaching awards while at the Smith School, as well as a variety of scholarships, fellowships, prizes and endowed appointments at Pennsylvania, Harvard and Cambridge. He has been on editorial boards of top-tier journals and has also graduated more than 20 PhD students, many of who have joined top-30 academic institutions. Anandalingam began his academic career as an assistant professor at the University of Virginia. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from Harvard University, and his B.A. and M.A. from Cambridge University.

Duncan L. Niederauer, NYSE Euronext, Incorporated (invited)

Mr. Niederauer was appointed chief executive officer and director of NYSE Euronext, effective December 1, 2007, after joining NYSE Euronext in April 2007 as a member of the Management Committee. Mr. Niederauer also serves on the boards of NYSE Group and Euronext N.V. Mr. Niederauer previously was a partner at The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (United States) ("GS") where he held many positions, among them, co-head of the Equities Division execution services franchise and the managing director responsible for Goldman Sachs Execution & Clearing, L.P. (formerly known as Spear, Leeds & Kellogg L.P.). Mr. Niederauer joined GS in 1985. From March 2002 until his resignation in February 2004, Mr. Niederauer also served on the board of managers of Archipelago Holdings, LLC (United States). Mr. Niederauer currently serves on the board of trustees for Colgate University.

Harvey L. Pitt, Kaloroma Partners, Inc.

Harvey L. Pitt is the Chief Executive Officer of the global business consulting firm, Kalorama Partners, LLC. Prior to founding Kalorama Partners, Mr. Pitt was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the twenty-sixth Chairman of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. In that role, from 2001 until 2003, Mr. Pitt was responsible, among other things, for overseeing the SEC’s response to the market disruptions resulting from the terrorist attacks of 9/11, for creating the SEC’s “real time enforcement” program, and for leading the Commission’s adoption of dozens of rules in response to the corporate and accounting crises generated by the excesses of the 1990s. Previously Mr. Pitt was a senior corporate partner in the international law firm, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. He also was a founding trustee and the first President of the SEC Historical Society, and participated in a wide variety of bar and continuing legal education activities to further public consideration of significant corporate and securities law issues. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center (1975-84), George Washington University Law School (1974-82) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law (1983-84). Former Chairman Pitt received a J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law (1968), and his B.A. from the City University of New York (Brooklyn College) (1965). Mr. Pitt serves as Vice-Chair of the National Cathedral School’s Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Board of Approva Corp. He Chairs the NCS Audit Committee and is a member of Approva’s Audit Committee.

The Hon. Leo E. Strine, Jr., Delaware Court of Chancery

On November 9, 1998, Leo E. Strine, Jr. became a Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Since that time, Vice Chancellor Strine has written numerous opinions, particularly in the area of corporation law. In addition, Vice Chancellor Strine speaks frequently on the subject of corporation law, at diverse forums such as the New York University Center for Law and Business; the University of Pennsylvania’s Corporate Law Conference, the Tulane Corporate Law Institute, the San Diego Securities Law Institute sponsored by Northwestern University School of Law, and the Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware. He has also authored several articles on business law topics in law reviews and other publications. Presently, Vice Chancellor Strine holds adjunct teaching positions at Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and Vanderbilt Schools of Law. This past academic year Vice Chancellor Strine served as the Robert B. and Candace J. Haas Lecturer on Law at the Harvard Law School. In 2003-2004, he was the I. Grant Irey Lecturer on Law at Penn Law School, and in 2005, he was the Regents’ Lecturer on Law at UCLA Law School. Immediately before becoming a member of the Court of Chancery, Vice Chancellor Strine was Counsel to Governor Thomas R. Carper of the State of Delaware.
