Organizations

Eco-Patent Commons:
This online database identifies existing patents that corporations and individuals have made available to others with an interest in using them to benefit the environment. No royalties will be required from those who develop applications using the patents. The World Business Council for Sustainable Development established this initiative. U.S. Department of Energy:
The Dept. of Energy (DoE) wants to help commercialize federally-funded energy research, and has established the DoE’s Entrepreneur in Residence program to help. DoE has selected Venture Partners, Foundation Capital, and Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield & Byers to work with agency laboratories to identify technologies and products that are candidates for commercialization. The goal is to give proven start-up entrepreneurs the opportunity to work with technical staff at DoE’s national laboratories. Click here for more information.

Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy:
The Kauffman Foundation is the founding sponsor of the Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy, hosted by the University of California-Davis in July 2008. The Academy will immerse participants in a program that will help them understand the path from laboratory to market and the resources that can help them on that journey. Attendees will work together to develop and evaluate the commercial potential of their research and select one for presentation prior to the program’s conclusion.
