cycle? The Center for Social Value Creation kicks off Global Entrepreneurship
Week at the Smith School of Business with a “Networks for Change: Social Media
For Social Impact” panel. Come listen to four cross-industry experts discuss the
state of social media strategy in today’s business environment, from startups to

Albert (Al) P. Carey is chief executive officer of PepsiCo Americas
Beverages, a unit of PepsiCo. PepsiCo owns the world's largest portfolio of
billion-dollar food and beverage brands, including 19 different product lines,
each of which generates more than $1 billion in annual retail sales. With net
revenues of approximately $60 billion, PepsiCo employs nearly 300,000 people
worldwide. Carey assumed this role in Sept. 2011 and is responsible for
overseeing all aspects of PepsiCo’s Beverage business across North, South and
Central America. Carey is a 1974 graduate of UMD. The event is open to the
public.

A panel of innovative faculty members will make presentations about what they
see as the role of information in creativity, and they will talk with our
"Visiting Future-ists" -- leading innovators from Google, Microsoft and Twitter
-- about the challenges and opportunities ahead at the intersection of
information, creativity and culture. Asher Epstein, Managing Director of the
Dingman Center, will participate as a panelist. The event is open to UMD
students, faculty and staff.

Pitch Dingman Competition

Watch five student entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to the panel of
successful entrepreneurs and investors. The students will be competing for
$2,500 in seed funding. Listen to the questions and feedback the competitors
receive, and choose the winner of the Audience Choice Award ($250). Meet
entrepreneurial students, learn from their experience, and get inspired. The
event is open to the public.

the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to
life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. The initiative
kicked off in 2008 and has grown to 115 countries—with nearly 24,000
partner organizations planning more than 37,000 activities that directly
