The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business – in
partnership with the A. James Clark School of Engineering and the School of
Public Policy – offers a timely, highly-relevant and cutting-edge Graduate
Certificate of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity Leadership. This innovative
program is designed for cyber security professionals who want to develop
business and management skills and learn how to leverage their technical skills
to advance within organizations. This intensive part-time program will also be
useful to managers who seek greater awareness of cyber and security risks, and
who wish to develop productive, informed relationships with IT and IS experts
across their enterprise.
Apply now for the fall 2013 cohort. Applications for classes starting August
3, 2013 must be received no later than July 12, 2013.
In less than five months, earn a graduate level certificate from Maryland's
flagship university and position yourself for new career opportunities. This
unique program will broaden your leadership capabilities and equip you to manage
risk and leverage opportunity beyond your current specialism.
The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security
(DHS) have jointly designated the University of Maryland as a National Center of
Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research.
Learning Objectives
During this program, participants will develop the skills
to:
- use systems design thinking and a holistic approach to preventing,
detecting and resolving enterprise-wide threats
- explore the main security models and approaches from the defense and
attacker perspectives
- control risk and manage defense in global, highly-distributed supply
chains through risk management approaches and analytic tools
- apply sourcing strategies to assure the integrity of systems and
components in cyber enterprise
- scope projects, implement a work plan, and inspire high performance in
an effective workplace culture
Your Graduate Certificate of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity
Leadership, a fully-approved graduate certificate program from the University of
Maryland College Park Graduate School, can serve as a stand-alone stepping stone
to new professional opportunities. In addition, the Cybersecurity Leadership
Certificate can be used to advance your graduate degree ambitions at the
University of Maryland, College Park. You can apply for one of two
masters’ programs we offer – 9 of your 15 certificate credits may be applied
towards either the Master of Engineering - Cybersecurity
track from the A. James Clark School of Engineering or the
MS in Information Systems from the Robert H. Smith
School of Business.
Please note: Degree candidates will have to meet the
admissions standards of the masters' programs. There is a time limit on degree
completion, and thus on credit transfer. Once admitted to the Certificate
program, please let us know if you wish to be considered for either of these
graduate degree programs.
